A member awaiting initiation must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be initiated into the chapter. Members maintaining a GPA of 3.5-4.0 will receive a $50 discount off their chapter dues. The member who maintains the highest GPA will receive The Beta Tau Memorial Scholarship of $250. If two or more members have the same GPA then the cumulative GPA will be used to determine the recipient. If two or more members have the same GPA and cumulative GPA then the decision will be made by the executive committee.
Beta Tau hosts at least two annual academic workshops from Mississippi State faculty and/or alumni, to help the chapter’s academic performance. Apart from the workshops, academic assistance may be found in the Allen Hall Learning Center, Math Lab, or The Writing Center located in Lee Hall. The chapter also gives initiated members and members awaiting initiation access to the chapter test files to aid them in their academic success. Members are also encouraged to contribute old syllabi and tests to the chapter test files. Although most teachers make new tests every semester, old tests can be valuable study tools.
Members exemplifying an exceptional academic performance will qualify to receive scholarships from the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation (KAOEF). The Foundation is among the highest national fraternities in giving, which annually awards over $100,000 in scholarships to deserving students.
